Zero Dark Thirty

Zero Dark Thirty - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1790885/?ref_=hm_cht_t5

Hi, this came a little late (that's what she said), I got a little lazy, on the other hand this is one of those movies that I would really enjoy if I had a piece of paper to do a more detailed post, but that not being the case I'll just do this by what I can remember.

What is this about. The hunt for Bin Laden, for those how don't live in this world.

This is the typical 3 Act structured movie you have the Act I when the meet our characters, of course we already know the problem, but the main theme of the first Act is not the search itself but is the way that they get the information, I'm talking about the torture component of the process of searching for the man, honestly I have no opinion on the maker, in one hand you can save hundreds of people doing in, on the other hand if you are doing it to the wrong person... well it's facked up.

Back to the movie.

On the second Act you have the hunt itself, it's more then a hunt, it's portrayed more like a personal vendetta of the main character, this is where I think the writers pumped it up a bit, honestly I don't give a fack about movies being historical replication of what happened, If I don't care about Tarantino killing Hitler I will definitely not care about Mark Boal, giving a little more girl power to the protagonist. If you want to see the accurate historical facts wait for the documentary, or view the news reports.

Act III, is the prep and the execution of the raid, it's by the book and in an attempt  to bring the protagonist to the screen in this last part of the movie, they make her a little more rebel and persistent even it that isn't necessary, but I get it, not having what was the main character in the last Act weird.

The movie is good, well directed, well written and the actors are good. If you like the Bourne trilogy  you will definitely appreciate it, it's a well made thriller.

This is a simplified plot development for the three act structure for this movie. I'll tell you how it generally goes, If you don't want to loose a little magic of how movies work don't read.

First 12 minutes- meet the character
minute 12 - something happens that changes their lives
12-25 - they think about what just happened
25 - start of the second act - they realize they can't go back to how everything was ( a secondary plot normally is introduced, normally love story)
25-50 fun and games, everything is light and loose
55 - midpoint, the story takes a turn changes one way or the other
55-75 - the bad guys come closer, things change for the worst.
75 - everything is facked up, the good guys are defeated.
75-85 - The protagonist gets a new soul a new opportunity to take what he wants
85-115- Act III and final showdown.

That's it I'm not saying that is always how it goes but most of them go like this, think of Se7en, hell even The Godfather, might not have every aspect of what I wrote but the three act structure will definitely be there. This is very simplified, and it is not for Zero Dark exactly.

Just awful        - O
Not for me      - O

Good              - X
Brilliant           - O

I really liked how the filmed the death itself, props for that.

Next will probably be between Les Mis, Flight or one that was a bit forgot The Flowers of War with, Bruce Wayne Himself.
