Hi.
Going strait to the point, Beasts of the Southern Wild is about... damn I don't know what it is about, that's strange, I saw it, I was paying attention during the hole movie, I was moved, i felt something, not indifference or like I wasted my time, I felt good about watching it but I'm still not able to say what it was about.
The story tells us about a little girl, that is raised by her father, far from what we call civilization (I personally don't call it that but that is a theme for a long essay so let's move it along) her father is teaching her to be a man, yes I made no mistake, he calls her man, and she expects her to become a leader, you might not agree with the way that he does it but in the end you will definitely understand him.
They live according to their own rules, they live from what they take from the earth, you can call them animals, beasts like in the title but aren't we all. I will not be much longer, the subtext in the movies is what I like most about them, and in the end maybe it's simple, so say what the movie is about, quoting it "you all got to learn how to take care of people small and sweeter then you are", I'm okay with that being the meaning, in a way that is what separates us from beasts, we can put aside the darwinian, survival of the fittest.
This was short and i didn't wrote that much bout the movie, but that's the beauty about this types of movies you can go pass the bullshit about this movie being this or that, making sense or not, and talk about what it meant to you.
By the end and not to be completely out of topic, great acting, great screenplay and great directing, I think I covered it all.
