The Sessions

The Sessions - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1866249/?ref_=sr_1

I was going to write about Flight, but it was late and the movie is way to long, so like I do sometimes when I'm off to read a screenplay, I took the easy way out and went for the less time consuming option, I was lazy, and I'm okay with it.

I didn't knew much about it, only that it was about a paralyzed man (not exactly, but you get the point) that goes to sex sessions for people with disabilities, the story is funny, and leaves you with a smile in the end, but in the end of the day a good story will always be a good story, and this one is so you wont regret if you go and see it .

Just a few things that I want to point out, more in terms of the screenplay. Irony always works, you put someone that wants to have sex outside of the marriage and a priest and you immediately have conflict, if the priest okay with it and the guy that is going to do it is the one that has doubts even more conflict, brilliant. The characters are well written and the movie works nicely, not a expensive budget, and in the end of the day an entertaining story.

Someone once say that when you are writing you have to fall in love with your characters, and if they are the bad guys you have to love them even more, I agree and I also believe that if you hear someone story you will also fall in love with them, maybe that's a little extreme but you will certainly be able to understand them. This is more of a general note but I decided to write it because I really felt that the writer loved all the characters in this movie.

Just awful        - O
Not for me      - O
1 time only      - O
Good              - X
Brilliant           - O

It was weird not seeing Frank Gallagher drunk and facking up all of his kids, but there was a scene where he showed up with a few brewskies that made me wonder....
